Botox  Injections

Botox (botulin toxin) injections are helpful to even out wrinkles and fine lines, temporarily. However, not all wrinkles are the same. Different facial creases benefit from different treatments.

There are two kinds of facial wrinkles – dynamic and static.

Dynamic facial wrinkles: These are created by repeated muscle movement such as smiles, laughs, frowns or squints. These emotions cause the face to crease up in those areas creating crow’s feet around the eyes, laugh lines and forehead creases or eyebrow furrows. Botox uses botulinum toxin to relax and immobilize muscle activities to restore younger, smoother skin.

Static facial wrinkles: Such wrinkles occur when skin loses its elasticity as it ages or collagen is damaged by bad habits such as smoking, or excessive exposure to the sun. The skin turns thinner and drier. While Botox may work on static wrinkles, fillers may be a better option to restore volume in static wrinkles.
